Art Journal # 1

I've been dreaming for a long time about creating an art journal...with both mediums: words and, well, art! I created my first one last week for one of my very dear friends and I had so much fun making it! I almost couldn't give it away. Almost. But then I convinced myself to give it away by a plan to make a December journal.

It was a fairly simple project - scraps of leftover ribbons, lace, stickers, fabric, paper, pages from books, charms, and of course, plenty of room to write! Once I let my creativity start flowing, my mind exploded with page ideas. The blue piece is an envelope, and the sticker on top is just a little blank book that I found on the clearance rack at JoAnns. (I'm a most of my things are from a clearance rack :-))

I received an art journal in a mail art swap once, and the woman who created it made these cute little pockets for a slip of paper. On the back of each of mine is a quote; I wrote quotes on almost every page because my friend is a collector of good quotes.

Just going to town...

This page has flaps that open outward, and a blank inside, with lots of room for words.

On the back I finished with a few more french friend loves all things french and speaks it quite well. That's one thing I love about art journals. You can make them personal!

Hole punch your pages, add book rings, and start writing!

I absolutely LOVE this journal, and these ones put mine to shame. Make one of your own and record all the great things God is doing in your life!

Why do we crave to create? We're made in the express Image of God. God is our Creator and when we see what He has made, the attribute of creativity springs into our hearts and we long to mimic His masterpiece.
